Self Assessment can be a pretty confusing beast with HMRC not seeming to offer much in the way of advice or help. Even what there is appears to be written in a foreign language so you might not be sure what to claim and what not.
We can help you with completing your Self Assessment, advising the amount of tax to pay and ensure that you do not pay a penny more than you need to, BUT we do need information to be able to do that!
It isn’t difficult but it is best to keep things up to date as you go along so there isn’t a mad rush in December and January and then the difficulty in remembering what you did and when, adding to your stress levels. There is also more chance of losing things the longer you leave it – remember we can’t claim for expenses that you can’t prove you’ve incurred, so
KEEP EVERY RECEIPT!!!
and send it in to us so we can advise you if it can be claimed or not.
We’ve put together a summary checklist for you to run through to cover off most off the obvious things but of course it does vary for everyone.
Use the links below to find more detailed information about the expenses that can be claimed – depending on your exact circumstances of course!
